3D Model: Tension & Compression
Wood Working
2011
Designing a 3D model that uses tension and compression within its structure. In this model, the chains between the letters of "tension" create tension within each letter. The chains run through the word "tension" and attach to the first and last letter of "compression," therefore making the letters of "compression" compressed, as the tension forces each letter block together. Both 3D words are essentially held together by a piece of wood connecting them. Without chains, the entire model would come apart as the tension or compression would be lost.
